Whenever someone tells me their dream, it feels second-nature to me to assume that it will one day happen for them.
For myself, self-doubt can still creep in, But deep down, I know I can achieve anything I set my mind to.
But what does it mean to make your dreams real, and is it possible for everyone?
I have accomplished much more in my life than I could have ever imagined simply by putting a little effort behind the passion. From working, studying, and living abroad in three countries to setting and reaching many personal and career goals, I feel very grateful to say I know how to turn daydreams into reality.
And I am just as grateful to be able to share what I know with you.
How to Turn Your Daydreams into Reality
While I have a very 3-step coaching program I use with clients to achieve their dreams, I have compiled some tips for you to consider on your way to achieving every dream you can imagine.
Get Mindset Right
These days, it feels particularly hard to find the time to daydream, let alone think they can be actualized. When everything around us wants us to toil in the negative, it is just another reason to have a mindset that anything you can dream can become possible. With an unshakable mindset built on understanding your strengths and how to use them to build the life you want, you can become unstoppable.
Get Clarity
The second hardest part of realizing your dream is gaining clarity. Whether you have a wealth of ideas or you are struggling to come up with just one, this is the first step in making your daydream become a reality. Having a clear picture at the beginning can keep you on track with later steps.
Make a Plan
Organize your thoughts. Write down every step you can think of based on what you know now. As you learn and experience more, the list may grow, shrink, or change altogether. The important thing to remember is that the plan itself is a malleable measurement of the work you are putting towards your goals.
Set a Timeline
I am not the biggest fan of setting a final goal date, but understanding your timeline can be useful. You can gauge how much time you need to devote to your goal to make sure you are making progress. If there are any financial investments needed, especially if it increases the longer it takes, that can help but a flame under your rear to get it done. ;)
Push through, even when it’s hard
Part of being resilient is learning how to work through the struggle in a healthy and productive way. There can be many things that pop up that would trigger you to want to call the whole thing off. Once again, keeping the reason why you started top of mind can be an important motivator. Take breaks, but remember to start back up again and inch your way to the finish line.
Pat yourself on the back
Celebrate all wins as often as you can. Out of the millions of people that exist or have existed, only a handful of them go after what they want. The learning and growth that occurs between starting and finishing is invaluable. To have the mental fortitude to keep going through it deserves an acknowledgement at the very least. Giving yourself a moment to reflect and appreciate what you have accomplished can go a long way to stave off self-doubt and questioning your abilities.
Ready to take the first step?
It is never too late to start. You are never too old to learn something new. When it gets hard, you know you are going in the right direction. Just keep going and remember what is waiting for you on the other side.
